March 23, 2020

MSU Health Care is pleased to announce Amit Sachdev, MD, and Robert Root, DO, have been selected as Associate Chief Medical Officers. As Associate Chief Medical Officers, Sachdev and Root will work to enhance patient access, patient experience and quality/peer learning. The ACMOs will report directly to the Chief Clinical and Medical Officer and will be part of a team responsible for ensuring the safety, quality and effectiveness of clinical care.

Amit Sachdev, MD, is a nerve and muscle neurologist with MSU Neurology. A graduate of the University of Michigan, Sachdev went on to earn his medical degree with Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine. After completing his fellowship at the University of Michigan, Sachdev came back to MSU where he’s been teaching in addition to practicing medicine. Sachdev currently works as the medical director for the Department of Neurology and Ophthalmology. He currently is leading numerous clinical trials in dementia, myasthenia gravis and CIDP. Sachdev considers his biggest achievement to be his efforts to bring patients with rare diseases together in the community and provide them with new treatment options.

Robert Root, DO, is a pediatrician with MSU’s Department of Pediatrics as well as an assistant professor. Root is a graduate of the Lyman Briggs College at Michigan State University, also earning his medical degree at MSU’s College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency in pediatrics through MSU/Sparrow Hospital Pediatric Residency program. For the last nine years, Root has provided primary care services to children and adolescents while teaching students in the College of Osteopathic Medicine. In addition to his clinical and academic roles, he has served on the Health Team Peer Review Committee since 2016. Root believes his true passion is seeing and taking care of children, but he looks forward to moving MSU HealthTeam forward and continuing to enhance patient access, experience and quality of care.

Sachdev and Root will begin their new roles on Monday, March 23, 2020.
